Hi there! My name is Alice and I am a Baton Rouge style and personal finance blogger. I blog about staying chic on the cheap, bargain hunting, and reworking your wardrobe to create great outfits. I post real outfits that I wear and that I can afford. No Hermes bags here (though they are gorgeous, sigh).
I’m married to an awesome husband, mama to the sweetest little toddler girl, and dog mom to two not so young pups. I love budgets, spreadsheets, bargain hunting, real-world not runway style, Fixer Upper, The Simpsons, The Office, Orange Theory, side hustling, and writing. I am inspired by classic silhouettes, clean lines, black eyeliner, pops of color, and feeling confident in your own skin.
I started in the blogging world back in 2011 with my personal finance blog Earning My Two Cents (Check it out!). I love personal finance/side hustling and wanted to share what I was learning. But as I started reading blogs, I found that I also started veering off into the world of fashion and style blogging. My blog feed started to become filled with pictures of gorgeous outfits that I usually can’t afford but I felt rich with style inspiration. Add in a growing addiction to Pinterest and I couldn’t get enough. But I sure can’t afford most of those clothes I so lovingly covet. So I started thinking…can I even wear that to work? Can I chase a toddler in that? How can I translate that outfit into a real world outfit that fits my budget and my closet?
Real Chic, Real Cheap is just that. It’s what I am wearing every day and trying to make sure I look chic (if not at least presentable) without a lot in the bank. It’s about real people and real style on a real budget. Trying to have a stylish life and home on a real (tight) budget. I hope you can find inspiration for your own closet and tips to find great deals! Let’s get dressed!
